Bob McVicar has spent his entire career helping clients and customers by listening carefully and understanding what they want.
It began with a retail career that led from a small town stockroom to an NYC boardroom; from the east coast to the west coast in both Canada and the U.S.; from discount department stores to world-class fashion emporiums. All this rich experience has served to give Bob a very broad view of what consumers want. In addition, more than a decade in the not-for-profit and political sectors have given Bob a clear view of how things get done and how the dots are connected. Simply put, Bob is a strategist with an armload of experience, who can zero in on the essence of an issue and find the path to the finish line.

Bob has served the Saint John community as President of The Saint John Board of Trade (now the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce), Vice President of Uptown Saint John, Chair of Communities In Bloom, Chair of Saint John Heritage Development Board, Co-Founder and Vice Chair Touchstone Academy, Canadian Red Cross, and many other volunteer activities.
Bob says: “I’ve had a lifelong fascination with real estate. Since my early 20s, I’ve owned, renovated, improved, restored, redecorated and sold 17 houses in Nova Scotia, Ontario, PEI, and New Brunswick. It’s been my hobby. I usually spend my vacation time chasing great neighborhoods and architecture, at least when I’m not searching for good food and beverage. Saint John has been a complete fascination for me, largely due to the handsome assortment of heritage buildings and their history and architecture. Along the way, I’ve learned how to buy and sell, how houses are put together, and how to see the real potential and get the maximum value in every property.
In 2003, I was given significant recognition for my renovation, decorating, and historic preservation hobby, when Victorian Homes magazine, with circulation throughout North America, featured my home in an eight-page feature story. It felt like I had made it to the Olympics of home improvement!
So after over 35 years of customer service experience gained in the retail industry, I have combined my passion for buying, selling, and restoring property together with my enthusiasm for helping others find solutions to their needs. I’ve been a full-time REALTOR® since 2006, specializing in historic, architecturally significant, urban, residential, and commercial property. I also represent buyers and sellers throughout the Greater Saint John Region providing excellent marketing, property analysis, negotiation, and client representation.”
